Published research
Peer-reviewed publications
Dr. Aniket Patil has co-authored peer-reviewed research on knee replacement outcomes, blood conservation during bilateral knee replacement, vitamin D and early functional recovery, and orthopaedic trauma. The summaries below explain what each study examined and reported.
The summaries describe findings reported in each publication. Research evolves over time, and individual studies should not be read as treatment recommendations.

Randomized controlled trial
Optimizing effectivity of tranexamic acid in bilateral knee arthroplasty – A prospective randomized controlled study
The Knee · 2017 · 24(1):100–106
This prospective randomized study compared three tranexamic-acid regimens in patients undergoing bilateral total knee arthroplasty. The regimen using one preoperative plus two intraoperative intravenous doses produced the lowest drain loss. Differences in calculated total blood loss were not statistically significant, and no thromboembolic events were observed in the study groups.

Retrospective study
Effect of preoperative vitamin D levels on functional performance after total knee arthroplasty
Clinics in Orthopedic Surgery · 2016 · 8(2):153–156
This study reviewed 120 patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty. Patients with vitamin D deficiency had poorer function before surgery, but functional scores at three months were similar after postoperative vitamin D supplementation.
-
Retrospective case series
Carpometacarpal joint fracture dislocation of second to fifth finger
Clinics in Orthopedic Surgery · 2015 · 7(4):430–435
This study examined six patients with the uncommon injury of fracture-dislocation across the second to fifth carpometacarpal joints. Functional scores improved substantially after open reduction and fixation, and the authors highlighted the importance of recognising these injuries early and restoring stable joint alignment.

Long-term retrospective follow-up
Mid term results of LCS knee: The Indian experience
Indian Journal of Orthopaedics · 2013 · 47(1):57–62
This study followed patients with LCS rotating-platform knee replacements for at least 10 years. Among the knees available for long-term follow-up, implant survival was 93.2% at an average of 12.3 years, with substantial improvement in Knee Society scores. Reduced postoperative flexion was identified as a limitation.

-
Effect of pre-operative vitamin D level on functional performance after total knee arthroplasty
Western India Regional Orthopaedic Conference · 2012
-
Do all obese patients lag in functional recovery after total knee?
Maharashtra Orthopaedic Association Conference · 2012
Postgraduate dissertation
The study of outcome of stiff elbow treated with complete arthrolysis and application of hinged elbow external fixator
Approved and accepted by Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik, during orthopaedic residency.
Research and clinical practice
Research informs care. It does not replace individual assessment.
Studies can help answer questions about surgical care, recovery and outcomes across groups of patients. For one individual, those findings still need to be considered alongside the diagnosis, imaging, symptoms, overall health and personal goals.
Planning treatment?
Discuss how the evidence applies to your situation
Dr. Aniket Patil can assess your symptoms and imaging, explain the treatment options and discuss the factors that matter in your individual case.
